According to Region 5, the teacher-led professional development is for anyone who wants to improve their craft. It allows choice and voice at the edcamp. The great thing about an edcamp is that it is FREE! No fees, but you need to register here, just in case the attendance gets above capacity. It will be help at Warren's high school. Join us for the first EdCamp ESC5! You will have a fun-filled day of learning, networking, collaborations, or just lurk around and see the excitement.
Now for those of you who do not wish to wonder out to Warren, but prefer staying home on Saturday. There is another opportunity for a free online event held by Simplek12.com. (Thanks, Woody Cox) They are offering free webinars all day long. You can register for the topic that interests you the most. Below is their schedule:

My Favorite No (Formative Assessment Idea)

I just love, love this idea shared here from an 8th grade Math teacher. However, any teacher can take this and use it to gain feedback on how students are understanding content. This teacher admitted that she uses this instead of the expensive student response clickers that her school could not afford. I found this on Teaching Channel which is free to join. They have great information for teaching and learning. It would be worth your time to visit.

Top 100 Tools of 2013

I love looking at the results of the top tools for learning. I just located Jane Hart's report on the top 100 Tools for Learning 2013 on her website C4LPT (Center for Learning & Performance Technologies. She released the report yesterday and it was compiled from votes of over 500 professionals in both education and the workplace. What's amazing is that she had votes from 48 different countries! You can view her website to get more detailed information. Below is the slides of the Top 100 Tools. She also has a list for those who would like to have it all at once without clicking through slides.
