The Do's and Don'ts for Teachers

Let me begin by saying, "Teachers, enjoy your last weekend of summer!" Many teachers will be getting back to school next week participating in staff development and enduring those fantastic meetings. Can I get an AMEN? I came across this great visual on my Twitter feed and thought it was something you could use while discussing proper online etiquette. Social Media can be a wonderful teaching tool, but these are some great tips to get them prepared. We can see what the 80% of teachers think about this infographic.

Sleet, Ice, & Snow = Time Off to Play

Enjoying some extra time off from work thanks to the ice, sleet, and snow. Well, not sure that it is actually snow, but many are managing to make super mini-snowmen. Here's a picture of a post my neighbors put on Facebook. Glad someone nearby is creating some memories in this cold weather. I actually did get to play around with a Chrome app that you can add called Loupe. It lets you make collages out of pictures. What I like is that you can use pictures from your computer, Facebook, Google Drive, Dropbox, Flickr, Instagram, and Google + That just about covers everywhere I have stored pictures. You can choose to make them into different shapes or place them into a rectangle and add your own choice of background and borders. Here are two I made with my grandkids' pictures, and one with some of my Facebook pictures I had. Hope this inspires you to do one of your own.

Have You Googled Yourself Lately?

Ran across this video that explains pretty plainly why we need to be careful when posting on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and more. What we do now may come back one day to hurt our dreams later. Scoop it!

One of my latest craze for "scooping" up resources is Scoop It! I have set up a free Scoop It! account and can post images, articles, websites, pdfs, blog posts, charts, graphs, and more. You can post your own comments, tips, and ideas for others who follow you. One thing that makes it handy, is that it will connect to Twitter & Facebook if you desire to post to those also. It is a great tool to follow others who 'scoop' up the same type of resources as you do. You can create up to 5 different categories on the free version.
