Let me begin by saying, "Teachers, enjoy your last weekend of summer!" Many teachers will be getting back to school next week participating in staff development and enduring those fantastic meetings. Can I get an AMEN? I came across this great visual on my Twitter feed and thought it was something you could use while discussing proper online etiquette. Social Media can be a wonderful teaching tool, but these are some great tips to get them prepared. We can see what the 80% of teachers think about this infographic.

Presentation by LCM's Sumlendia

One of our 5th grade teachers, Summer Diamond, had the privilege to present at iPadpalooza in Austin this week. Little did she know was that we were able to view her with LiveStream that is set up at Eanes School District. I was thrilled when I received the email about iPadpalooza Live. I love this article on blogging with younger students. It speaks volumes to the writing process as well as teaching students early on how to protect and consider their online presence. There are many options to use for blogging with students that is safe and teachers can monitor the posts and comments. One I recommend to teachers is KidBlog.org  You can set up your class for FREE in 20 seconds so they claim! There are more than 3 million K-12 students taking advantage of Kidblog. Why not start off with a class blog? You can use blogs for classroom discussions, to learn good digital citizenship, to practice writing skills, create an e-portfolio, to have students reflect on learning, and more! This is the year to try something new. Why not start with blogging.
